In group work I have many strengths and weaknesses. The two effective groups traits I picked for my weaknesses were initiative and effective communication. In a group, initiative can be defined as someone keeping people on task and working. Like if the group is talking about their weekend, the person with initiative sort of rounds people up and gets them back on task. I am challenged by this because I can get of task, and so I am usually the one off task. The other weakness I chose was effective communication. This can be defined as people communicating what they will be doing and what ideas they have during the process. So instead of a group being like a dictatorship, it is more of a democracy. I put this as a challenge because I am very independent when it comes to project work and I like to take control, so sometimes I do not communicate that well. The strengths I listed from the effective group skills, are leadership and critical thinking. The definition of leadership is when someone is more in charge and leads the group in the project. I put this as my strength because I am a very extroverted person so I like to help lead the group towards success. I also put critical thinking because I have a sense of realism when it comes to ideas and I can list the pros and cons of that idea. I like to push people to think more in depth about an idea and have it concrete. How I will improve on my challenges is to really focus on my work, and also make sure I communicate with others in my group.

What do you wish to see happen with this project?
I really hope to see an education aspect in this project. During the exhibition I really hope to see an impact and realization of what happens in today’s society. I think it would be really cool to show people what we have been learning in a hands on learning experience. The thing that I value in this project is realization. And showing the answers to the questions like, why do we stereotype people. What would you like to hear a parent say about the exhibition? How about a sociology professor? Some things I would like to see parents say are facts and evidence to back up any claims when talking about today's society and culture. I would love to see the information that we put out there is retained and used. I would love to see a sociology professor to say things like I would love to bring my students here to learn. How do we make sure that we are presenting accurate information to our audience? To be able to present accurate information to our audience, we need to have our readings be the main source of content for scripts, and performances. We also should keep up with current news, so we can add current events in our exhibition.
What reflections do you have from the last two weeks based on working in your groups that will help you moving forward with new groups? I like the free time to work with our groups but it would be nice to have more set and stone things to accomplish because it was sort of confusing. |
